My Story
After graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Communications, I spent a good number of years working and doing research in Clinical Psychology expecting to go to graduate school and eventually become a researcher in the field. I had some really great experiences working with diverse populations: couples having their first baby, Veteran's struggling with addictions, and folks who had severe mental health challenges. I loved this field, and surprised myself when I fell in love with Chinese Medicine and abruptly changed my plans and enrolled in a Master's program to learn this fabulous form of healing.
I graduated from the Southwest Acupuncture College in 2007 and have been practicing as a Licensed Acupuncturist since 2008. I continue to be awed by the power of this simple medicine that can guide our bodies back to health. I have done advanced training in several areas of study, including Japanese Meridian Therapy, The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage, pregnancy and childbirth, and herbal medicine.
Throughout my years as a practitioner I began to see a real need to support my patients in areas such as nutrition, movement, hydration, stress reduction, getting restful sleep, etc., and became interested in coaching as a way to help people make and sustain changes that allow them to live their most healthy, joyful lives. I completed a Wellness Coach training program through the Mayo Clinic and am a Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, which both informs my clinical approach as an Acupuncturist and allows me to offer Wellness Coaching to my clients.
In my personal time, I love to get out for various adventures on land and at sea, and also enjoy a cozy fire and a good knitting project on a rainy day. I live on Bainbridge Island in Washington state with my family.
